Don't Pass Up That China Cabinet

Updated: Oct 10, 2022

How can you purchase one antique piece of furniture and end up with three enchanting and highly functional works of art for your home? The simple and readily available China Cabinet will do the trick, and by buying an older piece, you will have substantially higher quality furniture than is available new today.

How Can You End Up With Three Pieces?

Here's One!

Some ingenious Interior Designers and Architects have figured out that if you separate the top from the bottom, leaving a space, and mounting the top on the wall instead of just sitting on the base, the result is remarkable, like the great built in buffets in classic homes from years ago.

You can use these works of art in your kitchen where there is a growing trend to escape from the simple, straight lines of box cabinets, back to when kitchens were created with actual furniture. Or you may choose to use a China Cabinet in the bath, laundry room, office or anywhere in your home or office.

As you can see from the examples below, in the space between the two pieces, you can add your backsplash from your kitchen, bead board, or any other surface. If you are creating a Coffee Bar you might even want to add chalk board paint!

2 ... Use The Top Separately

What a striking idea! Simply use the top sitting on the floor as a curio cabinet or book case. In this case you will want to add feet or legs to create your style. As you will see in the last photo, the China Cabinet top makes a great shoe cabinet!

3 ... Use The Bottom Separately

There is hardly a place in your home or office that the bottom of a China Cabinet would not be perfect ... as a side table, buffet, office credenza, in your bedroom, your bath, and especially to hold that big screen tv!

4 ... How About Using It All Together?

And of course, you can use your new China Cabinet as it is, or with a few adjustments such as eliminating drawers or doors. With the help of a little paint, you can truly and easily create a work of art that is all you!
